![]() ![]() This morning Samuel was feeling silly & Beth handed me the camera before heading into the shower. { Saturday, July 28, 2007 | Comment # } ![]() ![]() There's almost nothing better than bedtime being interrupted by one of your favorite things, such as a phone call. { Monday, July 23, 2007 | Comment # } ![]() I got a chance to do some hiking Tuesday through Thursday with my dad, Aunt Linda, and cousins Emily and Leah. They spent two nights at Galehead Hut, and I spent one night at with them at Galehead and one night alone at the Garfield Ridge Campsite. The food was better at Galehead, but the sleeping was better at the campsite. We had a bit of rain during the trip, but overall it was excellent hiking. Beth and Samuel spent those days visiting with Aunt Sarah and Melissa. Speaking of Melissa, did you know she is going to have a baby? We're pretty excited. She has a new baby blog too, which seems like it will be cute and funny. See for yourself. (This photo was taken at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday from the top of Galhead Mountain, 4024 feet. See a bunch more photos of the hiking trip here.) { Saturday, July 21, 2007 | Comment # } The O'Neill family left on Saturday and our house is empty once again. I am happy to say that major construction is complete, though finish work will likely continue indefinitely. Sam is already missing his rides around the living room, and Beth is missing her mom's help. This morning she said, "My mom is a silent helper -- I didn't realize how much she was doing." As for me, I fully realized what everyone was doing and I still can't believe all that our crew (Hiram, Kevin, Somchai, Tim, and I) accomplished in the last two weeks. And I also can't believe how much time all those people have been willing to give to us. Our little house has gone from bearable to comfortable, all thanks to our family. The rest of the work will be up to Morrill & Sons Construction (fine repairs and finishing since 2005) and anyone who feels like painting. Dan, we'll let you know if Beth decides to change the color of the floor. { Sunday, July 15, 2007 | Comment # } ![]() ![]() Today:
(Today's photos are by Tim and Kevin.) { Wednesday, July 11, 2007 | Comment # } The dormer windows are installed... ![]() The new front entry is well underway... ![]() Samuel wants you to have the sunglasses... ![]() And Somchai calls it a day... ![]() Despite the rustic accommodations, Somchai made a lot happen during his stay. Everything looks so good and I can finally stop worrying about whether this project is realistic. We are deeply grateful for all his help and we will think of him every time we don't bump our heads in our bedroom. { Sunday, July 08, 2007 | Comment # } ![]()

![]() Progress -- the dormer is framed and the roof plywood is on. { Tuesday, July 03, 2007 | Comment # } ![]() ![]() If updates become less frequent, we hope you'll understand why. Kevin (Beth's dad) and Somchai (Beth's uncle) started helping us today and impressed the pants off us by accomplishing in one day what would have taken my dad and I weeks or months. Samuel impressed us a little later by putting a hat on all by himself. Tomorrow we should have the skeleton of a dormer... and I'll try to post a photo if we're not too tired. { Sunday, July 01, 2007 | Comment # } |
