we like snow.

Beth has really wanted some way to record videos, and this weekend we found a cheap point & shoot video recorder that will fit in your pocket. Most people can take short videos on their digital cameras, but ours lacks that feature. So you can now look forward to movies of Samuel from time to time.

Hair!

Hair and the pulling and eating of it are extremely exciting and hilarious to this baby. I feel like that's pretty common, but I have no idea why babies love hair so much.

We just borrowed one of those hanging jumping seat things from Virginia, and now that Samuel is getting the hang of it he is truly hilarious. Jumping may even be ahead of hair on his list of favorite things, and now he can do it as much as he wants.

Nana's Nose

This picture sums up the past week -- these two have been having a great time together.

Boy and dog

Samuel loves to watch and grab Mable. As nervous as she is, Mable is always willing to let Samuel grab and pull her fur and ears. Beth always says how lucky Samuel is to already have a dog when most kids have to beg for years before their parents break down and get them one.

A happy and snowy Valentine's Day to everyone! (Our shovel broke this afternoon, so I'm hoping we get enough snow tonight to cancel school again tomorrow. Otherwise, I'm going to be digging myself out with a dirt shovel, and that won't be very much fun.)

Stripy

Samuel has had a busy weekend. We thought we might spend our Christmas and birthday gift money on a new bed, so we decided Saturday morning to drive to Ikea. We now have a bed that fills about three quarters of our bedroom, but it's going to be so worth it. Samuel loved Ikea and was very happy all day long, smiling at all the other Ikea visitors. He even slept most of the way home. With about 10 minutes to go he woke up furious, so Beth and I sang The Itsy Bitsy Spider at the top of our lungs for those final ten minutes. Man does he love that song.

Then this morning we had a delicious breakfast with Thee Chase Familee at their home in Antrim. Samuel thought the Chase boys to be so funny that he refused to go to sleep even though he could barely keep his eyes open. We were not attacked by raccoons.

Nana comes on Wednesday!

Drool

Samuel is drooling like the raccoons over our kitchen scraps. The open-air composter has worked great until recently, and now it seems that we are keeping the local critters fed through these cold nights. Last week I covered the new scraps with a jar of cayenne pepper that was so hot a quarter teaspoon of it could ruin a pot of chili, and I'm not all that sensitive to spicy food. The spice didn't seem to bother them at all.

Any ideas?

Bumbo/Panda/Fingers

Pretty soon he isn't going to need the Bumbo to sit up, and Beth is starting to plan for when he learns how to crawl. I think we're going to have our hands full.
