![]() Sutton, New Hampshire (Nikon CoolPix 4500) Mable seems to be in good spirits and in good health, though I suspect it's too early to see any tumor growth. Her stitches are out and she is running around the yard at full speed, just like her usual self. Today we heard some scratching and scurrying coming from upstairs so we sent Mable up to investigate. She didn't find anything, which means the scurry-er must have been in the ceiling. That's another story. Also, it seems that the Anonymous Naysayer from last week was right about the mud giving us problems with grouting. Beth has spent the week and weekend scraping, and yet more scraping is needed before we can grout. We are really earning our sub-sub-sub-sub novice standing in the Home Depot book. I am sorry to say that Beth suggested doing something about the mud when it was still wet, and I stubbornly ignored her. It is very good of her to scrape off my mistakes, but I guess she's used to stuff like that. { Monday, October 31, 2005 | Comment # } ![]() Sutton, New Hampshire (Nikon CoolPix 4500) One thin layer of grout is all that stands between us and hot showers.

![]() Mable's new walking path, Sutton, New Hampshire (Nikon CoolPix 4500) I'm going to take a break from the weekly house updates to give some bad news. We took Mable to the vet this week to have a lump removed and the tumor was cancerous (myxosarcoma). The vet tells us that this kind of tumor rarely metastasizes, but the tumor may return if he didn't get all of it. He did try hard to get all of it (and then some), and Mable has a 10-inch incision on her back leg to prove it. The vet was pretty positive when I talked to him, and he thinks that we shouldn't start getting really worried just yet. If the tumor returns we'll have to figure out what we're going to do. On the positive side, Mable isn't sick at all and she is her usual self except for a little pain when she jumps into the car. We'll keep you posted.(OK, one little house update -- we framed out the shower yesterday and we'll pour the base today.) { Sunday, October 09, 2005 | Comment # } ![]() Sutton, New Hampshire (Nikon CoolPix 4500) My dad and I have realized that when we work we take action on the first thing that comes to mind, which is often something that's pretty fun. For instance, weeks ago we made a mental note that prior to installing wall board we would need to extend the sink drain so that it would stick out of the wall. It seems that mental notes don't work for us and the sink drain ended up behind the wall board, forcing us to cut a rather large hole to bring it out from behind the wall. (Installing wall board is more fun than gluing pipe, so it naturally came to mind first.) We have now decided that paper notes will work better. As you can see in the photo, H.C.M. writes a fine note.Bathroom To Do List: 3. Tile floor 4. Build shower 5. Install sink { Sunday, October 02, 2005 | Comment # } |
