I've been doing this long enough that I'm running out of server space. Maryanna has been very kind and donated her free college web space, but I think I'm going to have to upgrade our Netspace.org account. So, don't expect many updates until I have that figured out.

Happy New Year!

We leave for Virginia Wednesday night, so things might be quiet around here for a while.

Happy Holidays to all. See you when we get back.

The Bean Trees is one of Beth's favorite books, so I always think of Beth when I see this bean tree that lives in the backyard, down by the garden. The bean tree stays green for a long time, then the leaves just shrivel and turn brown and leathery. And then they fall off. I like the bean tree much better in the summertime. (Two posts in a row about the summer. That's not like me.)

This photo seems like it was taken so long ago, back when it was hot and humid and raining. Back when the pool was open. Man is it cold now. Beth and I haven't lived through a full New Hampshire winter since 1998 and we're still trying to toughen up. I'll say one thing about this cold New Hampshire weather -- it sure makes for some beautiful sunrises.

My solo-week is over and I'm still alive. Beth and I are just home from a weekend in Maine with my Aunt Judy and her family, refreshed and ready for a new week.

Wilco's lead singer, Jeff Tweedy, has a new book of poems out called Adult Head, which I doubt will be as good as David Berman's book but I'll still check it out. You can download a really excellent Jeff Tweedy solo show here.

It's a girl!

Beth and I went to see Sadie last night and she is cute and precious and beautiful. Dan and Ann (especially Ann) are glowing, as they should be. We are so so happy for them, and we can't wait to see Sadie again. Congratulations guys.
