we like snow.

The leaves are still green, but yesterday really felt like fall and today it's cold like fall. I'm looking forward to a real fall after being in Oregon where fall isn't a real season, but more like the time when it starts raining. There aren't even any good apples to cheer you up.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Lebanon with Joe to sit in on a class at The Upper Valley Teacher Institute. Tonight we're going to stay at his parent's camp and I think we're going to have some good sleeping weather.

I love these photos of an ocean of clouds.

This fish taco recipe is highly recommended, especially for those of you who like spicy food. I make a slightly quicker version -- it took me about 30 minutes to make tonight -- and the taste is almost exactly the same:

Stir together 1/4 cup canola oil, 1-2 tbsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp cumin, and as much hot sauce as you like. Pour this brickred mixture over some nice white fish (haddock or halibut maybe) and let the fish marinate for 15 minutes to an hour, depending on how last-minute the meal is. Then, grill the fish, basting with the leftover sauce. Once the fish is cooked, break it up into little pieces and stick it in a tortilla with onion, tomato, salsa, hot sauce, sour cream and maybe some lettuce or cabbage. Toast your friends and family with an IPA or some red wine.

From Beth: One week of substitute teaching under Jake's belt and he survived! Beth, on the other hand, would never have survived one week of substitue teaching at a high school. She is scared of those high schoolers... especially Maryanna O'Neill.

Neal Stephenson's soon to be released book sounds pretty good. Having just finished Isaac Newton by James Gleik, I'm curious to read of Newton's adventures with an ancestral Waterhouse. I'm also looking forward to more nerd jokes.

Beth was offered a job at Rumford School today. My mom worked there for a long time, so there was some confusion about the difference/connection between Beth Morrill and Marybeth Morrill.

Lastly (and sadly): Because You're Mine.

Yes, another new layout. The old one was too much work to maintain. Also, to keep everyone happy, I added "~" to the movie ratings.

Beth and I never did get to go to the Oregon State Fair. Shucks.
