Celebrate Buy Nothing Day!

We're about to head out for Thanksgiving dinner at a friend's apartment in Vancouver. He and his wife are from Alabama, so I think we're in for some seriously good food in seriously huge quantities (we're talkin' turkey AND ham). I was going to make my grandmother's famous cinnamon rolls and bring them to the feast, but it sounds like they have prepared quite enough food so Beth and I sat in bed all morning drinking coffee and watching the parade. We have a lot to be thankful for, and today sitting in bed with Beth drinking coffee is near the top of my list. Also near the top are our always-wonderful family and friends who love us even though we moved so far away. We hope your turkey is juicy and you don't run out of gravy. { Thursday, November 28, 2002 | Comment # }

I know I shouldn't brag, but I am the tutor of the month for November and I get a free scoop at Ben & Jerry's. It's easy to be tutor of the month if you spend the last 5 minutes of every session playing football or skateboarding. Last week I ollied about a foot and totally sealed the deal on the tutor of the month thing. You should have seen Matthew's mouth drop open. Reading is a lot cooler when you think your tutor is Tony Hawk. { Tuesday, November 26, 2002 | Comment # } Today: rock climbing at Stone Works climbing gym. Now neither one of us can pick anything up because our hands are so tired. We went to find a cast-iron skillet after climbing and we couldn't hold the skillets. Did you know that you can buy a 40-year-old skillet for the low, low price of $110? We did not come home with a skillet. Beth thought she would suck at climbing and then climbed something that I climbed a couple weeks ago and only fell a few times. I fell 2 or 3 times on the same route! The only thing that upset her was that the "rocks" scrape wedding rings real good. Now drinking: Winter Fish from Fish Brewing in Washington. Soooooo hoppy, want to touch the hiney. I love winter time. { Sunday, November 24, 2002 | Comment # } Last night my friend Calvin and I went to see American Mullet. It was the most hilarious 52 minutes in a while. I came home all pumped to give Beth a mullet, but she felt she wasn't ready for the power it would bestow upon her. Beth skipped the movie, which is pretty much inexcusable. Someone told her it was disturbing, so she didn't want to see it. Actually, her fear is pretty understandable cosidering that the last movie we saw at this particular theater told the story of an insane Japanese woman who kept a man in a sack. I can't even think about that movie anymore without shivering. But American Mullet was good and the audience was nice and rowdy. I'm going to go eat some mocha chip ice cream now. { Saturday, November 23, 2002 | Comment # } Is this for real? Do we really put the Wyoming/Montana snowmobile business at the same level of importance as the national treasure that is Yellowstone? I guess that place is already so developed that it doesn't even matter, but it still bugs me. { Wednesday, November 13, 2002 | Comment # }
More amusing word play at work... People are always telling each other to "add more verbage" to written descriptions. OK, if you really want me to... { Thursday, November 07, 2002 | Comment # } I guess I shouldn't have been talking trash about Virginia Tech. I was so happy after watching Notre Dame lose to BC. Never did I imagine that VT would lose to PITT! And I see Dartmouth lost to Harvard. That's gotta hurt. { Monday, November 04, 2002 | Comment # } |
