Marybeth & Hiram just flew back to Concord this morning after a really great long weekend... Thursday night is volleyball night, and Hiram & Marybeth stunned the crowd with their volleyball skills. Everyone was impressed with Hiram's hard-hitting style, but Marybeth was the shining star after digging a blazing spike from a 20 year-old hot-shot. Friday found us skiing on Mount Hood. The weather was gorgeous, the sun was hot, and the snow was corn. Hiram strapped on some telemark skis and found out it wasn't as hard as he thought it was. Marybeth was tricked into going down a black-diamond and didn't fall once. Saturday was an it's-rainy-so-let's-see-a-movie day. We watched "Insomnia" and then bought some beer for a beer-tasting session to be conducted after our big fish BBQ. After dinner we drank beer and played Scrabble... Hiram beat us all, but it was close. Sunday we played beach volleyball and then watched some minor-league baseball. The Portland Beavers lost to the Las Vegas 51s. Monday we put the folks to work and filled 13 bags with weeds and vines. Hiram has dubbed our back-yard "The Jungle", but I think we regained control of the voracious vegetation. English Ivy is a worthy foe. Sadly, they left us this morning. Who will pat Mable? Who will buy us breakfast? We will just have to wait for their next trip. { Tuesday, May 28, 2002 | Comment # } Good news: Beth will be working next year as a teacher's aid in a kindergarten classroom. We've been waiting a long time to hear their decision, but it was worth the wait because Beth will be working do something she wants to do and getting some good experience if she decides to persue a teahcing career. Now she just needs a summer job and a local bakery called today to schedule an interview. Things are looking up! { Thursday, May 02, 2002 | Comment # } |
