I think I finally got the archives for this thing working. Now you can read every post we've ever made. And comment on them. :-)

Funny. And scary because it's true.

It was cold and rainy here yesterday, so we decided to head over the Concord Brewery and go on their tour. Yes, we have taken this tour before, but they are producing a new line of beers called Rapscallion, in addition to all their Concord Junction Beers. Plus, the tour is free and we needed something fun to do, rather than sit around all day.

Brewer Mike Labbe showed us around the brewery, focusing on Rapscallion, and how it differs from their earlier line of Concord Junction beers. He gives an excellent tour, very detailed, and he clearly loves his work! We got to learn about their new "Brew Track" system for Rapscallion, which will allow beer nerds to look up information about how their particular batch of beer was made, and, in the future, to share tasting notes about how the various batches taste as they age.

We then sampled some of the beers, including the newest Rapscallion, "Creation", which is aged in oak barrels. It's good. We also got a chance to talk to Dann Paquette, who now brews for Concord Brewery, but was formerly the brewmaster at a favorite Boston brewpub (now closed), Northeast Brewing Company.

When we told Dann how much we missed the Northeast, he gave Dan a sign from the pub (Whiskey Porter, one of Dan's favorites), and he gave us one of his old brewing recipes and the notes on how to make the IPA from the Northeast!! We always loved that IPA...it's extra hoppy! He even asked us to bring him some, if we made it. I guess I know what our next batch of beer will be.

Continuing the beer theme, the oatmeal stout we made is very good, and the cranberry ale is delicious too!

I love The Onion. This article had me cracking up and Ann asking me "what's so funny?" from the other room.

Man, yesterday's election sucked. About the only good result is that Ann and I can say we were married by the first lady-elect of Pennsylvania now.
