The International Centre for Women Playwrights (ICWP Inc) has several aims in relation to supporting member playwrights.
One aim is to assist ICWP members with professional development through education and training in an international setting.
The ICWP Professional Development Fund provides stipends to assist with travel expenses for ICWP Members wishing to attend conferences or events with a substantial international focus.
Funds are limited and donations to the fund are welcome. Awards are intended as supplement the Member's own funds and should not be counted on for a large part of the cost of attendance. Seeking additional outside resources, such as local or state funding, discounted hotel rates, and airline miles shows commitment and will reflect favourably on applications.
Members who receive grants must report back to the Board on their experiences, which will then be shared with the membership. We will also request that the Member(s) take ICWP leaflets or brochures with them to publicize our organization.
Funding to support ICWP events has higher preference than other types of professional development events, but other opportunities will be considered. Decisions will be made by the executive committee of the Board of Trustees.
The Board reserves the right to use these funds for specific organizational needs regarding Professional Development (such as travel for presenters or members of extreme need). If you are planning to attend an event for professional development purposes and would like to apply for assistance funds, please request an application and submit it to The Secretary at the address below, at least three months before the event.
