ICWP Mother-Daughter Monologue Project 2008

ICWP invites all members and interested parties to submit material
for an upcoming anthology of original monologues about the mother/
daughter experience.

Only one-character material that has not previously been published in an
anthology will be accepted (if it is an excerpt of a full-length play that
has been published to which you have retained republishing rights, that is
acceptable).

Styles and Genres

All style, genres, and languages are welcome: however, if the material is in
a language other than English, we ask that you submit an English translation
along with the original: if selected, both will appear in the anthology side
by side.

Length

should be between 50-2500 words, or 1/2 to 5 pages, or one to ten
minutes in estimated performance time.

Selection

Each submission will be read by at least two readers for the
following criteria:

  • Cleanliness/Presentation of the Monologue (no typos, missing words, etc) (1-5)
  • Relative Completeness of the Monologue (does it feel like a whole and complete theatrical unit?) (1-5)
  • Adherence to the theme of Mother/Daughter Experience (1-5)
  • Reflection of overall ICWP Mission http://www.netspace.org/~icwp/about.html (1-5)
    (possible score of 20 * 5 = % out of 100)

Rankings will only be used if volume of submissions exceeds the space
and resources available. Our intention is to include a wide
diversity of styles, experiences, and cultures in this work.

Authors must be willing to grant ICWP non-exclusive world publishing
and distribution rights for an unlimited period, which may be re-
assigned to a third party publishing company. All proceeds from the
sale of this anthology will support the literary and publication
efforts of the International Centre for Women Playwrights.
