How to Use this Archive

Brief instructions:

  1. Download and install the appropriate font (only do this once)
  2. Download and open the desired .rtf archive files
  3. Edit 'em, print 'em
  4. Mail me your comments about this archive
  5. Consider paying the sharware fee for any software you used
  6. Smile, knowing how much easier this method is

A bit more detail:

All the files are in rtf format, meaning that they are plain text (though with a lot of not-for-human-consumption characters thrown in) files, downloadable as for any other text file. Virtually every word processor on most major hardware platforms will understand .rtf formatting. For best results, you should configure your web-browser to use your word processor to view files with the .rtf rextension.

With some versions of Microsoft Word, you may get many (12, I think) "Style Sheet" errors unless you configure your browser to automatically launch Word for .rtf files. As far as I can tell, the errors do not affect the on-screen or printed results, but are extremely annoying. Mac Word 5.1 and below does not have this problem. I'm working on a solution, but it will be a while.

To use anything here, you will need two standard (built-in on most systems) fonts--Times and Helvetica--and ShalomOldStyle, the Hebrew font. ShalomStick is shareware and is available for major hardware platforms. You can download the Macintosh PostScript version, or the PC/Windows PostScript or TrueType versions of ShalomOldStyle from my archive and to install on your computer. Unfortunately, there is no Macintosh TrueType version of this font available at this time, and I don't know of another one that is compatible with the Shalom series.
