BRUNO: A Eulogy for my NetID

By: Daniel Macks formerly known as Daniel_Macks
Original: "Circle" (Cat Stevens)

I know that I've been here before
And I can remember when
I first got my ST account;
Oh, I had a good time then.

Then some went client-server
And UNIX for others of us.
It seemed the poor old mainframe
Would be collecting dust.

Reading news is a circle--
Host up and host down. Posts whiz through the network
Till they wind up here at Brown.
Reading news is a circle,
And though some call me lame,
I'm back here where I started:
Reading news on the mainframe.

It seems I've been away so long--
You've had an upgrade or three.
Thank God BrownVM's working,
Since they've purged my NetID.

I don't know how much longer
They'll let me LOGON and play.
Technology may come and go;
The mainframe's here to stay.
