This Java applet should allow you to establish a secure, encrypted connection to shell.netspace.org via SSH. Please wait while the Java applet is downloaded and started; this may take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the speed of your network connection. A new window will open once the applet is running.

shell.netspace.org is a private site; unauthorized connections are not allowed. Your IP address has been logged (as all web requests are logged) and inappropriate use of this service will be reported.

Setup (for MS IE):

• Once the applet finishes downloading, a security warning will be displayed. The Java applet is distributed by "Appgate Akitebolag" and the certificate used to sign it was issued by "Thawte Server CA". Click the "Yes" button to allow the applet to run.
• Next, a license agreement will be displayed. Please read the agreement and click "Agree". AppGate has generously made MindTerm available for use by The Netspace Foundation members to connect to the Netspace servers.
• Following that, you may receive a message similar to:
  MindTerm home directory:.... does not exist, create it?
  Go ahead and click "Yes" to allow it to do so. It is not a requirement, so you may also click "No" here with no ill effects.
• Finally, once you see the prompt: "SSH Server/Alias: shell.netspace.org", hit the "Enter" or "Return" key to connect. Verify that the fingerprint matches:

  Server's hostkey (ssh-rsa) fingerprint:
  openssh md5:  4b:6f:98:2f:c4:d7:3a:e1:c8:f0:16:20:3a:b2:09:da

• Enter your username and password.
• Congratulations! You are now securely connected to Netspace.

Troubleshooting:

• If nothing happens, you may need to install and/or enable Java in your browser.
• If the applet does not load correctly (i.e. only a blank window with menus is displayed), you should upgrade your JRE. See links below.
• If your SSH connection hangs, try leaving this browser window open and on this page; some browsers kill or halt the applet if you leave the page which started it.
• Note that your SSH session *will* be terminated if you exit from your web browser.
